Hello guys, I want to tell you a little about the competition that I participated in a few days ago. this competition still has to do with security topics. but rather leads to security software.
Initially, I was reluctant to go to this competition, because lately my country is being hit by a pretty terrible pandemic. after several discussions with a group of friends, we finally departed. from my university, we have 3 teams leaving. so we can go there together. there is one of our friends that collaborates with his friends from other universities.
This competition is held in South Jakarta, with easy access because it is a famous building in that area. Armed to seek experience, we departed by train and arrived at the city at night. The funny thing is, we got a quite luxurious hotel but at a very cheap price. at first, we were amazed at what we got. the room is spacious and the price is equivalent to two meals at mall. Remember, this is Jakarta, you know.
D-day competition, before we entered the main hall we were confronted by several people in full medical clothes. IMO, its an anticipation from the pandemic that occurred. it's funny, yet scary. at the entrance, we were given souvenirs such as t-shirts and nametags. yes, like common competition. after entering, I was seen several other participants who were already familiar with the world of cybersecurity competition.
During the competition, we chose to use PHP programming language with Symfony framework. We made this decision because my teammates are indeed good at and experienced with this language. the platform of this competition is unique and fresh because we have never been presented with a platform like this before.
The competition continued, initially, we slowly completed several challenges and were quite exciting. The challenge is presented with several security issue categories and given several correct answer options. fast reading of the listing code is required, indeed. when the seconds of the race was about to end, we put out a "bar-bar" technique that surprisingly contributed a lot of scores. lol
the competition ended, we got a mediocre position but that final result didn't make us disappointed because our initial intention was just to get a new experience. one of our friends, from the other team, was able to occupy the top rank and eventually became the champion in this competition. we are very proud.
after the competition, we take a short walk to enjoy the capital city before we return to our city. We learned a lot of lessons from this competition, ranging from a fresh and cool format to approaching real security issues that occur to meet new friends who have same hobby.
just an unforgettable experience.
